Superb ancient Egyptian bronze miniature bronze mongoose coffin
A superb Egyptian bronze miniature sarcophagus for a mongoose, loss to one end of the box, figure of mongoose intact, nice example. Small sarcophagus were used for votive purposes- a small bone from a mongoose was placed within the sarcophagus & sealed, giving the owner protection. Dates to the late period circa 664-332 B.
